Skip the setup and start sketching. Open Krata, pick a basemap, and draw what you need—boundaries, corridors, landmarks—directly on the canvas. Drop in existing files (GeoJSON, KML, zipped Shapefiles, CSV) and they land as clean layers you can reorganize and rename. Add your own fields to each feature—IDs, costs, contacts, deadlines—and switch on quick-edit to update many items at once. Snap to vertices, split or merge geometry, and rely on undo/redo when you experiment. Save versions as you go so you can roll back or compare later. When structure matters, build a field template once and reuse it across projects for consistent data entry.

Turn raw information into something you can explain at a glance. Paste a column of addresses and geocode them in place. Style layers with rules: color by category, ramp by value, and set visibility thresholds for cleaner zoomed-out views. Add smart labels that prioritize important places and avoid overlaps. Filter to show only what’s relevant—open permits this month, stops within 500 meters of a route, parcels over a certain size. Measure distances, areas, and elevation profiles to validate assumptions. Pull in reference imagery to verify conditions on the ground, and switch to a perspective view when depth helps tell the story.
